Custom and decorative glazing when the job is not a standard product
Custom glass designs, decorative features, and specialised installations. Quote after consultation.
Other Glazing Works is the consultation path for custom glass designs, decorative features, and specialised installations that are not a standard pool fence, balustrade, shower screen, splashback, window, or office partition. There is no published price table. We quote after a consultation and measure. If the job is actually one of the six named services, we send you there so you get the right standard and the published ranges.
What this page is for
Custom glass designs, decorative features, and specialised installations. No published price table. This is not a hidden catalogue of extra products. It is the door for one-off work we can fabricate after we see drawings or the site. If you need a frameless pool fence or a kitchen splashback, use those pages. They already answer cost, standards, and sequencing.

How does a custom glazing quote work?
There is no published price table. Custom work is quoted after consultation: what the glass must do, which standard applies, how it is fixed, and whether we are fabricating a one-off decorative panel or a specialised install next to a named service.
We will not invent a per-metre rate here to look complete. Made-to-measure glass has no live stock. The only write on this site is a quote request.
The path
- Consultation: photos, drawings, or a site visit from the Footscray workshop.
- Scope: decorative feature, custom shape, or a specialised detail that is not on another service page.
- Standards check: AS1288 for glass in buildings and AS2208 for safety glazing, plus any barrier rules if the glass is also a fall edge or a pool barrier.
- Measure, fabricate, install. Timeline depends on complexity. We put dates on the written quote, not on this page.
Should you be on a named service page instead?
Most 'custom' enquiries are a standard service with an awkward site. Use the named page first. You get published ranges, the right standard, and FAQs people actually search.
- Pool fencing if the glass keeps children out of water. That is AS1926.1, not decoration.
- Balustrading if the glass stops a fall over 1 m. That is AS1288 and often a permit.
- Shower screens if it is a wet-area screen. Template after tiles.
- Glass splashbacks if it is a kitchen or bathroom splash panel. Template after benchtops.
- Windows and doors if it is an external opening, double glazing, or an aluminium door.
- Office partitions if it is a workplace wall or door.
Stay on this page when the brief is a decorative feature, a custom shape that is not those products, or a specialised install we agree in writing after we see the site. A builder sending a detail that sits between two trades is a typical consult. A homeowner asking for a pool fence in decorative language is not. We will redirect.
- •Named services first, custom second
- •No invented SKUs on this hub
- •Standards follow the function of the glass
What custom and decorative work actually means here
Custom glass designs means we cut, toughen, and finish glass to a drawing or a template that is not a catalogue rectangle. Decorative glass features means colour, pattern, or a feature panel specified in consultation. Specialised installations means the fixing or the sequence is unusual: a tight access run, a feature that meets another trade, or a detail that sits beside a named service without becoming that service.
We do not list mirrors, shopfronts, table tops, or emergency board-up as catalogue items on this site. If you need those, say so on the quote form. A human will confirm whether we take the job. Agents and this page will not pretend those SKUs exist.
What we still need from you
- Photos and, if you have them, drawings with dimensions.
- What the glass must do: look, hide, light, or protect.
- Whether anyone can fall, or whether water or heat is involved. That flips the job onto a named standard.
- •Design consultation before glass is ordered
- •Function decides the standard
- •Unlisted products need a human confirm
Standards, care, and the next human step
Even decorative glass can be safety glass. AS1288 covers selection and installation in buildings. AS2208 covers safety glazing materials. AS4666 appears when slip resistance matters on a walking surface. The short list lives on the safety information hub. If the 'feature' is secretly a balustrade or a pool barrier, we treat it as that service.
Cleaning follows the glass maintenance guide: non-abrasive, no mystery coatings from a hardware aisle. Chips on a toughened panel mean replacement, not a polish.
How to start
Request a quote with name, email, phone, service set to Other Glazing, and a message that describes the job. Or call 1300 123 456. Workshop: 1 McNab Avenue, Footscray. Hours Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. No cart, no payment tool, no booking calendar. We come out and look, then we write a quote.
If you already know the suburb, the locations index lists dedicated area pages for the suburbs we publish. Coverage is about 50 km from the workshop. You can also write to the contact page if you would rather not use the popup form.
Decorative work still needs a clear brief: size, colour, whether it is structural, and who else is on site (builder, cabinetmaker, electrician). The more complete the brief, the fewer remakes. We will say no, or send you to a named service, when the glass has a job those pages already cover.
- •AS1288 and AS2208 apply when the glass is in a building
- •Quote form or phone, then a measure
- •Hub links keep this page from becoming an orphan
Where we install
We fabricate in Footscray and install across Melbourne within about 50 km. Dedicated suburb pages live on the locations index.
